IS IT IMPORTANT TO PRINT FAMILY PHOTOS

♥  Laurie’s thoughts: Is it important to print family photos?  Why bother?  Isn’t it better to have them in a digital format?  I have noticed that when people come to my home they usually comment on all the family photos on display, current and through the years.  Why do I print them?  Family portraits are an important way to show our children they are loved, they belong, and even how they fit into the family as a unit.  What is better? – to display them digitally on social media or to have them printed out and lining the walls of the home they live in! Today we have to click or scroll or open files to find pictures – we rarely have them readily available to touch and feel and spread out.  I am worried that many people feel that their images are ‘safe’ because they have them on a memory card, or in a hard drive…however, printing important family pictures should be a priority as we risk losing them to outdated digital operating systems in the future. Sometimes when we are thinking of family portraits we think of really serious, posed pictures.  A really good photographer can capture your family’s personality in their session.  I recommend finding a photographer who is easy to work with and who can see outside of a posed family session – one who can capture candid moments and genuine smiles and laughter…but don’t hide it behind a screen, buried in files….print it and enjoy it!
