A Historic Toronto Wedding Venue | The Old Mill

A historic Toronto landmark, The Old Mill is a highly sought-after venue for couples to say I Do. Originally built in 1793, the expansive grounds of this former lumber and grist mill is located just off Bloor Street. The Old Mill has a rich history and stunning Tudor architecture. Lush trees surround the mill, tucking it away from busy city streets. With its classic English warmth, notably the interior and exterior architecture, it’s plain to see why this historic place is such a popular wedding venue.

Despite being steps away from one of Toronto’s busiest streets, The Old Mill is peacefully surrounded by the foliage of Kings Mill Park. It is situated on the banks of the Humber River. It’s easy to forget you’re in the city when you’re surrounded by trickling streams and fountains. The landscaped pathways lead to a courtyard terrace, as well as the Old Mill’s English Tea Garden.

In addition to the fifty-plus boutique hotel suites, the Old Mill has everything you need for a wedding, including a chapel, a wedding garden, and an on site florist. They have banquet hall options to suit a variety of wedding sizes, as well as a spa to be pampered in. Picture-perfect spots for  wedding photos can be found not only outside but inside as well. For example, there are long beautiful hallways, grand staircases and many nooks and crannies, complete with picturesque backgrounds.

Tarek & Rohila

When Tarek and Rohila chose this historic Toronto site as their wedding venue, they planned it from start to finish. Their reception was held in the Guildhall, with its 14-feet coffered ceilings, elegant wall coverings, rich drapery, and heavy wooden doors and beams. Complementing the classic old world Tudor warmth, the couple chose gold seating, mirrored accents and soft pastel florals for the decor.

Lina & Mahmoud

While Tarek and Rohila had their entire wedding at the Old Mill, Lina and Mahmoud had a different approach for theirs. Although they had their nuptials celebrated elsewhere, they decided to have their photos taken at the Old Mill. Here, they walked the halls for their first look and danced under the staircase. Afterwards, they braved the blustery May wind storm for portraits on the patio before heading to their wedding reception.

In summary, the Old Mill has everything you need for your wedding. It can be your one-stop-shop. Or, if you prefer, it can simply be a unique highlight of the day. Regardless of your preference, the Old Mill is an absolutely gorgeous historic Toronto wedding venue that will always be in style.

Small Backyard Wedding in the GTA | Lara + Wael

Prior to heading to their reception at Mazza Garden, Lara and Wael hosted a small backyard wedding in the GTA.

It was all about the details as they prepared for the ceremony. Lara was gorgeous in a fitted lace dress and nude platform shoes while her husband to be looked handsome in a black suit and pinstriped tie.

Excited to begin their day, the two met in the foyer and lovingly snapped selfies together. Around them, white balloons floated at the ceiling with their ribbons cascading down to the floor. Tied to them were personalized notes and snapshots that loved ones had written.

Before the hustle began and everyone arrived, the pair took a stroll around the neighbourhood, stopping for photos at a local park along the way. Although many of the trees were still bare from the winter season, the springtime cherry blossoms sprouted colourful pink blooms around the couple.

Back at the house, the couple greeted their guests. Once everyone had arrived, they made their way outside where family members stood, snapping pictures and waiting for the nuptials to begin.

Lara and Wael exchanged vows with the bright spring sun shining down. It was short but romantic, and at the end they marked their newlywed status with a pop of champagne.

The group continued their celebrations at the restaurant in Ajax. Halfway through the reception, Lara changed into a blush-coloured cocktail dress. The band featured a saxophonist decked-out in white from head to toe, performing while the belly dancer swayed her hips on the dance floor.

Despite the small size of the venue and modest guest list, this event packed some substantial punches. The pièce de resistance: a wedding cake embellished with pyrotechnic sparklers!

Intimate Outdoor Hamilton Wedding | Brittany + Phillip

It was a beautiful summer day for Brittany and Phil’s intimate outdoor Hamilton wedding at the Whitehern Historic House & Garden. Although the ceremony was small, it was full of character.

The melodies of the violin/cello duo queued the procession and all thirty guests turned their attention to the bride. Ushered in by her father, Brittany walked down the centre path of the garden to greet her groom.

A pair of large floral arrangements flanked the couple on either side of the quaint stone altar. They stood beneath a delicate white trellis arch that contrasted and popped against the grey stone walls that surround the Whitehern’s yard.

Brittany was pure elegance and grace wearing a classy white lace cocktail dress with white heels. Rather than the conventional veil and bouquet, she accessorized with traditionally delicate jewelry. Her short hair was swept away from her face and her natural beauty absolutely radiated.

Phil, dressed sharply in a navy suit, gazed lovingly at his stunning bride as he promised to love and cherish her. She giggled through joyful, emotional tears as they exchanged rings and vows. Without hesitation, as soon as the officiant pronounced them husband and wife, the couple embraced ecstatically while their family and friends applauded and cheered.

When it comes to weddings, bigger doesn’t always mean better. An intimate affair such as this one can be just as exciting, fun and eventful as the Royal Wedding itself. At the end of the day, the extravagance of a wedding doesn’t matter; it’s the love of the newlyweds that brings it all together.

Wedding at Chateau Le Jardin in Vaughan | Chantal & Joe’s Fairytale

Wedding at Chateau Le Jardin in Vaughan | Chantal + Joe’s Fairytale

Chantal and Joe’s wedding at Chateau Le Jardin in Vaughan, Ontario was straight from the pages of a classic fairytale. Without a doubt, the castle was the perfect venue for this Prince and Princess.

The Victorian-style facade is breathtaking with its four large columns framing the venue’s front doors. The dark grey surrounds of the windows contrast beautifully with the light stone walls. Moreover, the black wrought-iron fence gives a sense of exclusivity.

The recently renovated interior also has luxurious features. The main staircase curves below a domed ceiling and crystal chandeliers. Accented with ornate mouldings, the ceilings are arched, coffered and stretch thirty feet up. Unquestionably, there is elegance in every detail: such as the vibrant stained glass windows, gold accents and large scale mirrors that reflect light into every corner of the space.

Inside the castle, the two resembled royalty; not unlike the classic storybook tales of the past. Chantal wore a Cinderella-esque ballgown dress. A beaded bodice topped her layered blush-coloured chiffon skirt. She held a bouquet of ivory roses accented with sparkling rhinestones and wore a delicate bejewelled tiara in her hair. Her Prince Charming, Joe, was equally lovely in his tailored tuxedo and black bowtie.

The couple travelled in style to the venue in an off-white vintage car. Once there, Chantal and Joe were escorted into the banquet hall by a group of traditionally-clad musicians. They made their grand entrance while playfully dancing and cheering along with the parade of performers. The room was decorated with pretty rose-gold table linens, crystal candelabras, and extravagant floral arrangements as well as white fabric draped floor to ceiling.

The two appeared to be more in love than any Prince and Princess as they danced their first dance as husband and wife.

Wedding Photos at Toronto’s Aga Khan Museum | Nabeela + Anthony

The day after their traditional West Indian wedding ceremony, Nabeela and Anthony suited up for their wedding photos at Toronto’s Aga Khan Museum. It was an uncharacteristically warm and beautiful summer-like day for October; the contrast of the cloudless blue sky popped against the museum’s light granite facade. Bold architectural elements of the building and the surrounding lush green landscape also added to the vibrant backdrop for the couple’s photos.

Nabeela wore a gorgeous trumpet-style gown that had a sweetheart neckline and a delicately laced fitted bodice that flowed out into cascading layers to her feet. Her hair was simple yet stunning: loose curls swept to one side in an elegant hair clip. The groom-to-be was all class in his monogrammed custom-tailored suit; his navy tuxedo jacket with the black satin shawl-collar lapel and bowtie gave Anthony some serious James Bond swagger.

Looking equally stunning, the bridesmaids were dressed in varying styles of matching indigo floor-length dresses, and the gentlemen sported light grey suits accented with deep blue bowties. In between posing for pictures, the bridal party laughed, sang and danced along to the distant beats of dance music coming from their limo in the parking lot. The groom’s fabulously fun parents looked proudly on while playfully showcasing the ladies’ bejeweled clutches and groomsmen’s red solo cups. Museum-goers stopped to watch the action and offer their compliments and congratulations to the couple. Although the day had just begun, the good vibes, excitement and laughter were an indication of the fun that was to come  – including a stop at McDonald’s on the way to the Vow Exchange Ceremony!

Not only did these Wedding Photos at Toronto’s Aga Khan Museum really capture the group’s outgoing personalities, but also reflected the couple’s elegance, style and (of course!) love for each other.

Congratulations Nabeela and Anthony!

Wedding at The Atrium in Burlington | Josh + Meagan

Josh and Meagan’s romantic wedding party at The Atrium in Burlington was filled with the beauty of nature. The magnificent Tew’s Falls at the Spencer Gorge was the backdrop for a pre-wedding portrait session with the groom. Josh’s bold blue jacket designed by Kareem at noirlabel.ca reflected the landscape and was the ideal addition to the natural environment.  Fotoreflection was able to photograph Josh just as the sun was setting, which resulted in a unique moment captured in time.  Once inside the Atrium, the green palette continued with the special attention to detail found in The Atrium’s picturesque decor.  Burlington’s Ettridges The Studio created an effortlessly chic environment, accentuated by lush and creative flower designs by Jolanta at Late Bloom Florists in Oakville. Even the wedding cake was laced with an added touch of greenery. From the breathtaking views of the Spencer Gorge to the sophisticated natural environment that was seamlessly created by Ettridges, Josh and Meagan’s wedding was simply one to remember.
