Trevor Scott, SJ and Hank Ven Meijel, SJ, two Canadian Jesuits, were ordained deacons at Our Lady of Lourdes parish in Toronto last week. The diaconate ordination is one of the major orders in the churches. It is usually followed by ordination to the priesthood a few months afterward.
I visited with Trevor in his room, while he prepared for the big ceremony, and snapped a few shots of Trevor’s collection of books, religious items, trinkets and photographs. Trevor is a passionate filmmaker and book lover. Congratulations on your vows guys.

Ezra Levant Celebrates Earth Day

A collection from a Behind The Scene shoot of The Source with Ezra Levant, a Sun News TV program. After a 25-minute monologue on why Canada should reject Omar Khadr, Ezra puts on some hippie clothes and begins celebrating Earth Day by honouring Gaia, the goddess of earth. An evil figure appears and destroys Ezra’s beloved “little one” and ruins the celebration. Very “Unethical Forestry”!

This was by far, one of the funkiest shoots I’ve had this year. Ezra Levant, Producer Rikki Ratliff, Director Kelly Wiley and the rest of the production team at The Source are fun and friendly. Thank you guys for having me over.

And here is a video from that episode of The Source:

Six-Women Contest

At first I thought they were three, but when the ladies started going down the stairs they became six women outside that building. What an illusion!

Ballet Contest

One of the many things I appreciate about photography is that it challenges me to be attentive. It invites me to pay attention, to consider and to be aware of my surroundings. I’m passing on the challenge, with a reward.

I took this photo during a Portrait session with Andrea, a passionate Ballet dancer. Andrea’s art complemented my passion for discerning movements, shapes, objects, gestures and reflections. There are many things that captured my attention looking through the lens from that particular spot as Andrea performed her dance. I also noticed there was more than one Ballet dancer in my frame. If you can spot all of them let me know and I’ll reward you with a $200 Gift Certificate towards a Portrait session. Whatever your passion is I’ll capture it in a unique way through photography and provide you with high quality photographs to cherish, pass on and enjoy for a long time. You love biking? Soccer? Dancing? Drawing? Reading and or hiking? Whatever your passion is I’ll capture it in a unique way through digital photography. Here is a Sample.

Send your answer, with your name, to my e-mail: info@fotoreflection.com or through the comments box below with the subject Ballet Contest. The right answer will win a $200 Gift Certificate. Good luck to all. Enjoy being attentive!

And of course you can pass on the challenge to friends and relatives to participate…:)

And the answer is: Four.

There are 4 Ballet Dancers in this picture. The obvious dancer in front of me (I’m in a mirror reflection), the dancer in the painting on the wall and the two dancers in the statue on the heater.
Brendan guessed the right number, but didn’t count the two dancers in the statue behind me. Since Brendan and Jessica put the most effort into this contest, you guys get the gift. I’ll be e-mailing it to you shortly. Congrats!

Thank you for all who participated. There are a couple more similar contests coming shortly. Keep checking..:)

Tew’s Falls Hike

My friend Igor and I hiked around the Tew’s Falls this Sunday. These falls, at 41 meters, are the second highest waterfall in Ontario after Niagara Falls. The hike was a much needed retreat into nature and its tranquility.

3 Amazing

Three inspiring women I met in the last a few days:

Hélène Campbell of A Lung Story
Marina Nemat author of International best seller “Prisoner of Tehran” and
Jully Black “A force to be reckoned with”.

Warmth

Warm and gentle smiles awaiting joyfully.

A Moment

Life seems to pass by so quickly, right up to the moment when one knows that one is loved and is free to love. Then everything becomes a captured moment that guides one’s life and slows it down.
